I have a successful story to share with you. My story would
not be possible if I hadn’t asked Jesus Christ to come
into my life and save me two years ago.
|
| I have a mental
disability of Bi-Polar
Disorder that I am being treated for, by attending
one on one session with my therapist. Seeing my doctor regularly
and taking medications that are prescribed daily. |
| In December
2003 I missed my period and at that time my doctor instructed
me to stop taking my medications, following her instructions
I stopped. My illness took over. I started to decompensate,
after a week I was hospitalized. While in the hospital I experienced
a seizure and had been put back on medicine and ordered to stay
on bed rest for the duration of my stay in the hospital, which
was about two months. I spent most of my time in the hospital
praying for stability and the safety of my unborn children.
Five months later both Tiffany and Zachery were born. At this
time they were both placed in incubators in the N.I.C.U. since
they were premature and their lungs were still developing. |
| One month later
they were home with good health. Both my husband and I are grateful
to God who has blessed us so much with this family of four.
We are also grateful for the prayers of everyone at the church
my family and I attend, Crossroads
Church in Staten Island, NY. |
| I never thought
I could have children boy was I wrong…I have twins,
a boy and a girl! I always thought that because of my medicine
it would be impossible to bare children. I haven’t felt
any symptoms after my children were born. |
| Getting to another
part of my blessed life, meeting my husband Gary. It is amazing
how God puts people in our lives. My husband happens to work
in the mental health field. How’s that for an all out
blessing a husband who supports me and understands me. |
| I feel Jesus
has blessed so me much over the years, which for me is hard
to even imagine at times. I have been completely stable for
six years due to my strong will and Gods care for me. I know
that God has been steering me into the direction of my life
to where I am today. |
| God has been
merciful answering our prayers and brightening up our future.
I know with the love of Jesus on my side anything is possible. |
| I warm-heartedly
want to help other women with mental illness, that God will
help you only if you let him in. |
| God
wants to be our leverage in living, empowering us to feel better
about ourselves, more excited about our future, more
grateful for those we love and more enthusiastic about our faith.. |
| If you are a
believer in Jesus Christ, God has given you His Holy Spirit
to help you live life according to His perfect plan. |

Goldstein: Currently I am attending the college of
Staten Island for early education. My mother and my husband
will help me jungle a very busy schedule by watching the twins
while I'm studying and attending classes. I enjoy taking
the twins to the park and for a walk around the neighborhood
in their stroller. I love to work out at YMCA, thanks
to their baby-sitting services; I can use the machines, participate
in the aerobic classes and go swimming. |
| Daily, I
take my medication for Bi-polar that keep me stabilized.
I thank the Lord for the mixture of pills available to me to
keep my chemistry balanced. I see a therapist once a week
and my doctor for my pills every other week. I pray every
day that the Lord will guide me and give me the strength to
keep up with my good mental and physical health so I can fulfill
my role as a wife and mother. I also thank my husband Gary,
who supports me and builds up my confidence to move forward. |
| I hope my
story has inspired other women with mental health issues to
have the courage to have healthy relationships. Taking
medication doesn't mean you can't have your own family.
Ask your doctor which pills are safe. God Bless my sisters
in Christ. |
