Epic of A Good Life

What is a good life? Good life according to whom? What is your definition of a good life? Have you thought of maybe a better life for you?

We all have dreams, goals and plans for our lives. Let's look into our lives a little closer. The past is gone, today is all you have and tomorrow may never be yours. What is your purpose here on earth?

"For who knows what is good for a man in life, during the few and meaningless days he passes through like a shadow? Who can tell him what will happen under the sun after he is gone?" Ecclesiastes 6:12

Well, you might say, I went to school, I graduated, I have a career, a job, a house, a car, I got married and now I have some kids. I instruct my children, send them off to school and I live a good life with my family. Old age sets in and well your time here on Earth is gone. Yes, I know somewhere in between you had money, you went to church on occasion, you were a good person, oh yes and you had yourself some good and bad times. Nope, sorry, can't take anything with you when you die, you came in with nothing you leave with nothing. What will your obituary say, what is your epic?

"Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." Ecclesiastes 1:2

What then, what's the point?

"For I know the plans I have with you,"says the Lord, "Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Wisdom, pleasure, work, power, riches, religion and other things. All of these have some value and are useful in the proper time and place, but they have lasting value only if God is at the center of a man's life. Reverence and respect for God and a real devotion in serving God are the most important in making life have meaning. Without God," everything is meaningless."

"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: "Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." Ecclesiastes 12:13

There are instruction books on how to put together an entertainment system, well the Lord has left us an instruction book, a manual on how to put our lives together, the Bible.

"And we pray this on order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God." Colossians 1:10
