Box of chocolates

Life is like a box
of chocolate

by Rocio N. Baudille

Have you ever heard of the saying: “Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get” by Forrest Gump?

When you woke up this morning, how was your bed nice and comfy? I’m sure your dressed nice today. And you ate breakfast right, well at least you thought about it. How about that car you drove in, it’s nice right? I’m sure you have some money in your pocket. Isn’t it great to have all the things that make you happy, that make you live well? Have you been thankful for all of those things?
We take for granted what we have and what we get. We figure, yeah this stuff isn’t going anywhere as long as I have a job I’m good. How do you know that you won’t get fired? Do you know for sure that you won’t end up in a wheel chair? Do you know if your house will be there when you get back? Do you know anything? NO, you don’t! You never know what you’re going to get. You assume it’s going to be okay tomorrow, because you figure the past couple of days or weeks or years were just fine. On 9/10/01 did you assume that 9/11/01 was going to be a regular day?
In the light of the New Year and everyone making new resolutions and setting goals, why don’t we go to the author of our lives and ask Him what’s best and present him with your list of resolutions? He is the only one that can help you change anything according to His will.

God, knows exactly what’s going to happen to you for the rest of your days, He knows exactly what you’re going to get…  “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” Psalm 139:16.  Do you trust Him? “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Next time you leave your house, stop, turn around and appreciate what you have, tell God, “Thank you Lord, thank you”. Say a thankful prayer, before you eat, before you go to work, with your children and your spouse, before you go to sleep. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful” Colossians 4:2 “O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you” Psalm 84:12
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” Romans 15:13
